The Commune of Starachowice announced the procedure for "Development of the concept and design and cost documentation for the reconstruction and adaptation of the building's interiors and the development of the environment of the EKO-school in Starachowice", which will be built in Primary School No. 11. Major Jan Piwnik "Ponury".

Eight companies applied for this task. Currently submitted offers are verified in formal and legal terms. The good news is that almost all of them are within the budget allocated for this contract.

The undertaking will contribute to the creation of the first in the country, the most modern and innovative school with a rich educational offer. Appropriate development of the school's surroundings, and above all, equipping it with above-standard pro-educational solutions and modern teaching aids will raise the level of education in the city and make it attractive. The school with all its elements forming a kind of education center will affect the attractiveness of the educational offer in the city and, consequently, raise the level of knowledge of young people.
The project has a chance to become a model educational project not only in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodship. The building and space of the EKO-School will be open to the public - they will be a place for meetings and relaxation, as well as will allow for the implementation of educational and ecological activities and the development of ecological awareness. The developed educational programs will be able to be implemented in other schools.

Education of teachers as part of ecological courses

The last element of the ECO-school is the education of teachers from Starachowice. These people will be able to use the acquired knowledge during their professional work for the development of the city. Teachers, thanks to gaining additional experience, will be able to consciously shape the worldview of young people and sensitize them to the need to care for the natural environment and social participation in the development of an eco-city.

The training was carried out by lecturers from the Warsaw University of Technology and divided into three parts, during which the trainers focused on the most important issues related to ecology - not only through theory but also practice. The training was held both at Primary School No. 11 and the seat of the Warsaw University of Technology at the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography. We wrote more about it here.
