The Youth City Council in Starachowice is starting a new initiative. This time, together with experts, we will develop a new program based on non-formal education for young people called: Competencies of the Future

In the evolution of professions, it has always been necessary to learn and acquire new competences. It is estimated that up to 30 percent the most important skills that today's employer values in employees will change in a few years. Therefore, it is extremely important to take action in this area and prepare young people and education for the challenges of the modern economy. In the labor market shaped by the processes of automation and platformization, there will be employees who, based on advanced cognitive, social and technical (including digital) competences, will be able to adapt the profile of their skills to the rapidly changing expectations of employers.

The term "Competencies of the Future" covers 10 professional skills according to the Research Institute of the University of Phoenix, i.e.:

1. design thinking,

2. virtual cooperation,

3. computational thinking,

4. transdisciplinarity,

5. ability to use new media,

6. cognitive load management,

7. social intelligence,

8. unconventional and adaptive thinking,

9. discovering meaning,

10. giving meaning.

The program will contain a detailed description of the competences of the future along with examples, case studies, work methods, goals of individual training, scenarios of individual training, etc.

In October and November we will organize seminars for young people, entrepreneurs, non-governmental organizations, universities and teachers, and in December we will meet for a 3-day training to test the effects of our work.

The initiative is implemented as part of the project entitled "Direction for the Future - Starachowice Local Development Program", financed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism for 2014-2021 (85%) and the state budget (15%) under the Local Development Program.
