The project "Direction for the Future - Starachowice Local Development Program", financed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism for 2014-2021 (85%) and the state budget (15%), has officially started. Bergen - the second largest city in Norway - became a partner of the Starachowice Commune. As part of the project, the commune will receive nearly PLN 16 million, which will enable the implementation of many important tasks.
The cooperation agreement at the City Hall in Starachowice was signed by the Mayor of the City, Marek Materek, and Vincent Mrimba, Director of the Cultural Agency within the Department of Culture, Equality and Diversity of the City of Bergen.
- Today we are taking another, very important step. I am very glad that we have acquired such a strong, substantive partner. Thanks to this cooperation, we will receive high-quality support in the implementation of the project, which brings many benefits for residents. We will use the knowledge and experience of partners from Norway and we will try to introduce the best solutions in Starachowice. This is an extremely difficult project, but very good for the city, because it touches many aspects of life, including: education, ecology, development, entrepreneurship and social activity. We will make every effort to implement it as best as possible - emphasizes the Mayor of the city, Marek Materek.
It's an honor for them
A delegation of guests from Norway has been staying in Starachowice since Wednesday. Previously, our partners, together with representatives of the Starachowice Commune, participated in a project conference in Warsaw organized by the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy (with the participation of, among others, the ambassadors of Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein). In one of the presentations, representatives of our city presented the assumptions and main goals of the project "Direction of the Future - Starachowice Local Development Program".
